MISSION

Our mission is to persuasively present biblical principles in the centers of influence on issues affecting the family through research, communication, and networking.

VISION

Our vision is to see a South Carolina where God is honored, religious freedom is preserved, families thrive and life is cherished.

VALUES

Palmetto Family focuses on seven core areas as they relate to the family.  Each value is represented by a star in our logo. Below are our values.

FAITH

We do not believe that we exist by chance and time, but by the direct act of God. Religious liberty should be protected by law and vibrant churches should be encouraged.

MARRIAGE

We believe that social fabric is only as strong as the bond between its husbands and wives. Children raised in homes where parents enjoy a strong marriage are more likely to be successful.

PARENTING

We believe that mothers and fathers must build character in their children to ensure that their values live on. Parenting should be active, intentional, and nurturing.

EDUCATION

We believe that education is fundamental to success in life and that all schools – public, private and home – should be driven by the wishes and active involvement of parents.

STEWARDSHIP

We believe that the earth and all it contains are a sacred trust. Natural and economic resources should be cherished as a gift from God.

COMMERCE

We believe that private enterprise, not government, is the engine of economic progress. Free enterprise, entrepreneurship and hard work should be taught and celebrated.

CULTURE

We believe that just as they deserve clean air and clean water, families also deserve a clean society that treasures life, truth, justice and purity.

HISTORY

Under the leadership of G. Steven Suits, M.D. of Spartanburg, Palmetto Family Council received its charter as a non-profit organization in 1993, and opened an office in Columbia in the fall of 1994.  Working in association with Focus on the Family and the Family Research Council, we began “defending and strengthening the family” in South Carolina.

Over the years, Palmetto Family has remained on the front lines of the fight to keep biblical values a consideration in the culture at large and in public policy decisions.  As the only organization in South Carolina focused full-time on the entire range of issues facing families, we have helped the Palmetto State realize hundreds of wins for faith, family and freedom.

Our research and publications promote positive change that help make South Carolina a better place to live and raise a family. We have earned a reputation as a clear, credible voice on cultural and policy issues affecting the family.

Palmetto Family is the most effective faith-based organization fighting for a South Carolina where God is honored, religious freedom flourishes, families thrive and life is cherished.

FINANCIAL POLICY

Palmetto Family is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established and abiding by all state and federal laws.  We submit our organization to financial audits and review, and continue to abide by the highest ethical standards in the solicitation and handling of donated funds.  Our accounting practices are consistent with generally accepted principles (GAAP).
